September 9 - Shepherd PDF Print E-mail

The word for today is shepherd.

“The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want” (Ps. 23:1).

“Then I will give you shepherds after my own heart, who will lead you with knowledge and understanding” (Jer. 3:15).

“I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep” (John 10:11).

“Save your people and bless your inheritance; be their shepherd and carry them forever” (Ps. 28:9).

“For you were continually straying like sheep, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Guardian of your souls” (1 Pet. 2:25).

“And seeing the multitudes, He felt compassion for them, because they were distressed and downcast like sheep without a shepherd” (Matt. 9:36).

“He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young” (Isa. 40:11).

“And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory” (1 Pet. 5:4).

“Now the God of peace, who brought up from the dead the great Shepherd of the sheep through the blood of the eternal covenant, even Jesus our Lord, equip you in every good thing to do His will, working in us that which is pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen” (Heb. 13:20-21).

“For the Lamb in the center of the throne shall be their shepherd, and shall guide them to springs of the water of life; and God shall wipe every tear from their eyes” (Rev. 7:17).

How about a verse of “Saviour, Like a Shepherd Lead Us”?: “Saviour, like a shepherd lead us, Much we need Thy tender care; In Thy pleasant pastures feed us, For our use Thy folds prepare: Blessed Jesus, Blessed Jesus, Thou hast bought us, Thine we are.”

Prayer: Lord, thank You for the words of the psalmist: “You led them like sheep through the desert. You guided them safely, so they were unafraid.”
