July 4 — Psalm 119:103
Your words are tastier in my mouth than honey!

The psalmist agrees with Peter and Jeremiah. “Like newborn babies, long for the pure milk of the word, so that by it you may grow in respect to salvation” (1 Peter 2:2 NASB). “When your words came, I ate them; they were my joy and my heart’s delight, for I bear your name, O LORD God Almighty” (Jeremiah 15:16 NIV). Solomon says: “Eat honey, my son, for it is good; honey from the comb is sweet to your taste” (Proverbs
24:13 NIV). How sweet is the word of the Lord to those who love it and feed upon it! “The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul. The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple. The precepts of the LORD are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the LORD are radiant, giving light to the eyes… They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the comb” (Psalm 19:7-8,10 NIV).
