July 8 — Psalm 119:143 Distress and hardship confront me, yet I find delight in your commands. The psalmist describes two trials he is facing: “Distress and hardship.” He also reveals where, in the midst of pain, he finds his delight: “yet I find delight in your commands.” Why? “All your words are true; all your righteous laws are eternal” (Psalm 119:160 NIV). “The LORD will keep you from all harm – he will watch over your life; the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore” (Psalm 121:7-8 NIV). “I will extol the LORD at all times; his praise will always be on my lips. My soul will boast in the LORD; let the afflicted hear and rejoice. Glorify the LORD with me: let us exalt his name together” (Psalm 34:1-3 NIV). “For the word of the LORD is right and true; he is faithful in all he does. The LORD loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of his unfailing love” (Psalm 33:4-5 NIV).
